Lucie Novoveska, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, is a dynamic musician who maintains an active career as a solo violinist, composer, and orchestra player. She has performed with world-class orchestras around the world and has recorded and released numerous CDs featuring works by Czech composers and her own compositions. Lucie was introduced to music at an early age when her mother discovered her daughter’s fascination with the songs played on Czech radio. After observing her penchant for melody, she decided to cultivate Lucie's interest by enrolling her in music school where she began playing the violin at the age of 6. Lucie continued her musical training at the Prague Conservatoire, where she studied for 6 years with Professor Dana Vlachova, member of the Czech Trio, and Professor Karel Pribyl (Prague Quartet). She also took many violin master classes including the “New Approach to Violin Playing” workshop by Oxford University Professor Kato Havas. She received her first master's degree from the Tel-Aviv Academy of Music in Israel as a student of Professor S.L.Yaroshevich. In the summer of 2002 she studied with the Czech violin virtuoso Vaclav Hudecek. Lucie earned her second master's degree of music at the University of Tennessee where she studied with Professor Mark Zelmanovich and taught violin. An outstanding student, she was awarded the Marija Petrovska Scholarship and was included on The Chancellor's List of Graduate Students in 2005. She has performed solo violin concerts in the Czech Republic, Israel and throughout the United States and has appeared as a soloist with Collegium Musa Pragensis and the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. She won two concerto competitions with the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra and one with The Orchestra at Maryville College. She was concertmaster of the UT Symphony Orchestra for three years. She toured Europe with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and took part in a festival of contemporary music in Vienna's Opera House with conductor Claudio Abbado. In the Czech Republic, she played traditional Slovak folk music with the group Limbora and performed in opera productions in the Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague. She was a member of the Funtrio folk group and Prague. From 1993 to 1997, she was a violinist in the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and participated in tours of Europe and Japan. At Tel-Aviv University, Lucie performed as a concertmaster with the Chamber Orchestra of the Academy of Music and as a violinist with the prestigious music group Aquarius Chamber Ensemble. As one of the10-member Vengerov and Virtuosi ensemble that accompanied this world renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov, she performed at concerts in Israel and throughout Europe, including London's Royal Festival Hall and Vienna's Musikverein. With this group, she performed at such prestigious festivals as Festival de Saint-Denis, Hellenic Festival Athens Epidaurus, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Festival Internacional de Musica de Algarve, Festival de Musica de Sintra and Festival de Musica da Madeira. In 2002-03, she performed with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Lucie is currently a member of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony of the Mountains and the Oak Ridge Symphony Orchestra. |
